Foot Pain & Plantar Fasciitis Treatment in Glasgow

Foot pain can make walking, standing and exercise uncomfortable. Because the feet absorb load with every step, irritation can quickly affect confidence in movement and daily activity.

At Glasgow Osteopaths, we assess and treat foot pain from our clinics in Glasgow city centre, Paisley and Lenzie. Treatment focuses on identifying the mechanical factors influencing symptoms.

Understanding Foot and Heel Pain

The foot is a complex structure made up of multiple joints, ligaments and tendons designed to absorb load and provide stability with every step. When these structures become irritated or overloaded, pain can develop gradually or appear after a change in activity.

Because the foot plays a key role in walking and balance, reduced mobility or altered mechanics here can also influence the knee, hip and lower back.

Common Causes of Foot Pain

Foot pain can arise from joints, tendons or soft tissues that become overloaded. One of the most common causes we see is plantar fasciitis, which often presents as heel pain first thing in the morning.

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Midfoot stiffness
  • Overuse from increased activity
  • Changes in footwear or training

Altered walking patterns linked to hip, knee or lower back issues can also contribute. You can read more about related factors on our Hip & Knee Pain page.

How Osteopathy Can Help With Foot Pain

Osteopathy aims to improve mobility through the foot and ankle while addressing contributing factors further up the chain, including the knee, hip and lower back.

Treatment may include:

  • Joint mobilisation of the foot and ankle
  • Soft tissue techniques for tight calf muscles
  • Advice on load management and activity modification
  • Exercises to improve strength and flexibility

In cases of persistent tendon irritation, we may discuss whether Shockwave Therapy is appropriate.

What to Expect at Your Foot Pain Appointment

Your first appointment includes assessment of foot mobility, walking pattern and surrounding muscle function. We may also examine the knee, hip or lower back where relevant.

Management plans are tailored to your activity level and lifestyle.

For full details of appointment length and pricing, please see our Fees & Offers page. We are recognised by Aviva, Bupa, Vitality and AXA PPP.

I had an appointment with Tim Basset today and I was given detailed information about my back issues and how to correct it going forward. Tim is extremely knowledgable and a fantastic man with so much great advice. Not only did I leave feeling better than I went in but I also felt more positive about the future. I’ve spent years in and out of my GPS office miserable and no further forward so this is incredible to me. Thank you so much and I look forward to my next appointment.

One of the best specialists. I had huge problems with my back after slept disk. NHS done nothing then worse. I had lost so much time off from work and my normal Life as a parent and daily routine . Wasn’t able to normal function. Dear Alessandro put me back on my feet, always work with dedication and passion and huge patience. I had wasted so much money and time for other privet clinics. But no much help just a for short time. Alessandro worked on my back and mobilise step by stem. Managed to get back on gym with demonstration of what and how to train to build up all strength, managed to play again with my kids and enjoy family outdoors activities. I’m fully back to work and after two years of full treatment and help now I can say I’m free from pain and can do what I love to do. Thank you Alesan
